Everything You Need to Know
Yes, CracksBegone is specifically formulated to work on both genuine and faux leather. The mink oil and beeswax formula nourishes the surface layer of synthetic leather, restoring flexibility and significantly slowing the peeling and cracking that is so common with bonded and PU leather materials.
We recommend applying CracksBegone every six months as a standard maintenance routine. If your leather is particularly dry, cracked, or has been neglected for some time, you may want to apply it twice within the first month to restore the moisture balance, then move to a six-month schedule.
CracksBegone is a clear, colorless formula. It will not alter the color of your leather. In fact, most customers notice their leather appears richer and more vibrant after application simply because the surface is properly hydrated, which naturally deepens the color. This is normal and desirable.
Yes. The formula contains no harsh solvents, silicones, or synthetic chemicals. It is safe for use in homes with children and pets. Allow the surface to dry and buff completely before allowing contact, which typically takes around 10 to 15 minutes after application.
CracksBegone works best as a preventive and restorative treatment for leather in the early stages of drying. For fine lines and surface dryness, it can dramatically reduce their appearance. For deep structural cracks where the leather fibers have fully separated, it will improve the feel and appearance but cannot completely reverse the damage. This is why early and regular conditioning is so important.
CracksBegone is suitable for sofas, armchairs, car seats, leather bags, leather jackets, shoes, and any other real or faux leather goods. It is not recommended for suede or nubuck leather, as those require specialist dry treatments.
The 50g tin is ideal for one to two applications on a standard two or three-seat sofa. The 100g tin provides three to four applications on the same sofa, making it the better value for ongoing maintenance. For larger sectionals or multiple pieces, we recommend the 100g tin.
No. Once buffed with a dry cloth, CracksBegone leaves no greasy or slippery residue. The formula is absorbed by the leather and the beeswax component sets into a clean, dry protective layer. The surface will feel smooth and supple, not oily.
